History: Nothing is provided about Jazz's history before coming to Earth with the rest of the Elite Guard. When Ultra Magnus ordered Jazz to deploy a force field around the ship upon their arrival in order to keep the humans away, Jazz questioned it -- he wanted to get a closer look. However, he was immediately put off from this when Sentinel Prime told him that organics were dangerous and would spit acidic goo at him.

This came into play when Sari infiltrated the ship, which Jazz had been left in charge of while Optimus Prime took Ultra Magnus and Sentinel Prime to the location\ of the battle that had destroyed the AllSpark, which was the entire reason the Elite Guard had come to Earth in the first place. He tried to calmly direct her out, but Sari picked up that he was afraid of her and used this to scare him.

Finally, Bulkhead and Bumblebee explained that humans were harmless and Sentinel Prime was a jerk, and Jazz quickly recovered from the blunder in time for word to come that a manufacturing plant was spitting out drones that  had gone haywire, and Jazz, after warning Team Prime that he's not supposed to let them out of his sight, was convinced to come with them. After all, he was itching to test out his stylish new alt mode.

Once they got to the plant (after Jazz expressed approval at the concept of traffic lights), he complimented Prowl's fighting abilities before showing off a bit himself until Optimus Prime could come and escort Sari into the plant to shut it down, revealing a shard of the AllSpark had been embedded in the control console of the assembly line.

Jazz was the one who noticed a spike in energy in the area and led the Autobots to a booby trap meant for Megatron that had been created by Starscream. Jazz had to pull Sentinel and Optimus Prime apart before their fighting could escalate, but was swiftly knocked unconscious by Starscream when he tried to apprehend the Decepticon. He recovered in time to escort the other Autobots in placing an arrested and apprehended Starscream on the Elite Guard ship.

Starscream managed to escape from the ship, but not before the Elite Guard download some of his components. These were used to create the twins Jetfire and Jetstorm as part of something called "Project Safeguard". Jazz was rather wary of the entire process and the twins themselves, but he taught them the basics of hand-to-hand combat anyway. He managed to defeat them when head-to-head, but was defeated the second he turned his back. After this, his team was called by Rodimus Prime to provide backup, but didn't arrive until after their assailants had left.

He came back to Earth in search of suspected Decepticon spy Wasp along with Sentinel Prime, at which time he got excited at the concept of rain ("It's like a planet AND a car wash!"), and revealed his method of coping with Sentinel... well, being Sentinel: he ignores half of everything Sentinel says. Once they caught Wasp, who had disguised himself as Bumblebee, Jazz learned from Optimus' team that the true spy was Shockwwave, who had disguised himself as Longarm Prime, the head of Cybertronian Intelligence, and Wasp had been framed!

Jazz and Prowl, suspicious of Sentinel Prime's arrest on several Decepticon agents, exposed that Sentinel had hired Lockdown, a bounty hunter, to catch them for him. Shortly after this, the Elite Guard was ordered to retreat from Earth, an idea Jazz wasn't too keen on. On the trip back, Sentinel Prime was temporarily promoted, and the new power quickly went to his head. He ordered Jazz to pilot them through an unstable ion storm, which reactivated Swindle, who had been apprehended by Lockdown. Swindle freed the other Decepticons, and the Elite Guard was defeated. Fortunately, Sentinel actually did something smart and sent a distress signal to Optimus instead of Cybertron, and Optimus helped calm the situation, although Lugnut and Swindle escaped.

Jazz soon joined the Earthbound Autobots, having had enough of Sentinel's ego, and started teaching Prowl lessons he hadn't gotten to learn, since the former never finished his training as a Cyber-Ninja, and helped protect the human civilians when three Lugnut Supremes dropped down onto the city. He teamed up with Prowl to try and take two of them down, but they both retreated when their efforts turned out to be in vain. The two of them decided to reconstruct the AllSpark, but it wasn't enough to protect the entire city -- until Prowl sacrificed himself and donated his own spark to complete the Allspark, to Jazz's protest.

And thus, it was Jazz's sad job to present his comrade's fallen body to Optimus' team and helped carry his casket when they returned to Cybertron to be regarded as heroes after Optimus defeated Megatron.

Personality:
Jazz is an incredibly competent soldier, make no mistake about that. He's a skilled Cyber-Ninja (possibly
even the best there is) as well as a member of the Cybertonian Elite Guard, capable of keeping his cool in almost any situation and being able to defuse most things with a swing of his nunchaku.

But while he is dangerous in hand-to-hand combat, he's also not one to pick a fight when confronted with anything not openly wearing a Decepticon symbol. He especially stands out among his fellow members of the Elite Guard as the only one actively willing to learn about Earth culture, and regards most of what he's learned so far with enthusiasm -- he sees most, if not all of it, in a positive light, and has even picked up on a good amount of the slang... even if some of it is a bit outdated. Needless to say, other Cybertronians can easily pick him out just by his voice and the way he talks.

Although Jazz is very much loyal and reluctant to disobey orders that come from higher-ups, he is a rather independent thinker and won't hesitate to question an order he finds dubious -- especially when they come from Sentinel Prime. He often serves as a voice of reason and peacemaker, and isn't afraid to tell anyone when they're being an idiot... Again, especially Sentinel. Jazz only respects others than he finds to be open-minded and has their heart in the right place. Needless to say, Sentinel Prime only has the barest amount of respect. In fact, Jazz openly admits that he only listens to about half of anything Sentinel says when asked how in the world he puts up with him.

Despite his laid-back attitude, he isn't completely unshakable, especially when it comes to dealing with Decepticons in a way he's not entirely familiar with... or with a new organic species when he's been misinformed about them before-hand, as Sari so helpfully helped demonstrate. When he does lose his cool, it usually isn't for very long, and he bounces back relatively easily -- after all, that's what's helped keep him alive for so long.

Items on your character at canon point: Jazz has two pairs of nunchaku stored in slots within his arms; panels slide out of the way that allow him to grab them as needed. Otherwise, he had nothing.

Abilities, Strengths and Weaknesses: As a Cybertronian, Jazz has both a robotic root mode and a vehicle mode, which is a stylish Earth-based race car. Because his vehicle mode is based on a car, he also has a curious ability to shadow-step, using his speed and skill as a cyber-ninja to quickly close distances between himself and his enemies.

An ability unique to Cyber-Ninjas is something called "processor-over-matter", which is very similar to telekinesis; by meditating and entering a state of supreme concentration, skilled Cyber-Ninjas can actually manipulate their surroundings. The best example of this would be when Jazz, with Prowl's help, used this to gather all of the Allspark shards in the city to create a shield around the entirety of Detroit. On his own, Jazz could most likely lift the weight of an average motorcycle or small car.

His greatest strengths lies probably in his open-minded, easy-going nature and his training as a Cyber-Ninja. Even in tumes of great stress, like facing enemies 10 times bigger than him, he manages to keep a cool head; he often puts himself in the role of peacemaker, coming between arguments between Optimus and Sentinel on many occasions. He's also a huge optimist and a firm believer in "benefit of the doubt". Although he may be cautiously suspicious of things, he won't attack unless attacked first and immediately backs down when told to.

On the other hand, Jazz is admittedly a bit gullible. It only takes a few words from Sentinel Prime to get him to be cautious of humans and afraid they'll spit toxic goo at him if they're provoked. He also has a terrible tendency to obey any orders given by anyone in a position superior to his for a long time, even if the orders are questionable, before he starts to protest. He would subject himself to the orders of anyone that could prove themselves as a Prime or a Magnus just out of habitual respect before being able to break off from this. Being part of the Elite Guard, he automatically goes on the defense when faced with anyone wearing the Decepticon badge, which could be problematic for any former or alternate versions of Decepticons.

Uh... this thing on?

[The robot on the video screen, despite the mild uncertainty in his voice, has a smile that is equally unsure and pleasant. After a long moment of examining the comm again, he nods to himself and continues on, a slightly metallic twinge becoming more prominent as he talks, adding an even more bizarre factor to the outdated slang he's speaking in. Occasionally, he shifts around, and mechanical whirring and clicking can be heard.]

I've checkin' out this funky little thing for a while and I think I got the gist of it, so here we go. This is Jazz of the Elite Guard, and I'm in some serious need of info. O.P., if you're here, lemme know where we're at and I'll swing by. Otherwise, I'm just gonna be checkin' this place out, maybe gettin' a little meditatin' groove on. Shouldn't be too hard to find me.

[He can't help but give a little chuckle at his own joke.]

Jazz out.

Prose Log Sample:

It had been quite some time since Jazz could just sit down and meditate. Never a dull minute around Optimus' team, in between Decepticons wrecking things left and right. But since they were back on Cybertron, with Megatron in custody and Decepticons scattered all across the galaxy once again, he found a little time to sit back and find a nice, quiet place. He had needed it desperately; actually, they all had, especially after what had happened to Prowl.

That thought snaps him out of it, so he has to vent a sigh, readjust his position, and make his way back into his internal peace-zone once again.

It happens every single time he thinks about Prowl, and what happened in Detroit; a very talented fellow cyber-ninja, more powerful that even Jazz himself, and he'd sacrificed himself for the greater good without so much as a second thought. Even in that final moment, when his only response to Jazz' idea of finding another way had been a small smile of "goodbye", he'd been brave.

Jazz loses focus again. And at this point, he doesn't bother going back into that peace-zone; he sits there, and he just... thinks. He and Prowl had been pretty close for the relatively short amount of time they'd known each other; Prowl had never officially finished his cyber-ninja training, and Jazz had taken it upon himself to help change that. There had been so much potential in that mech, and they'd gotten along very well. But Jazz had been the one to catch the body when it fell and turned grey, and even after they had laid the casket down, it had been hard to get over. Prowl wasn't the first 'bot Jazz had seen die, not in the least, but being there and trying to change his mind, and failing, was something that could shake even Jazz.

But he's not upset or angry or anything like that. He's more... wistful. Prowl had saved an entire city and its population through his death, and that was something no one would be forgetting any time soon. It was a shame that this war had claimed yet another life, but it may have been the last one that it ever would.

And it's with this thought that Jazz can finally slip properly into meditation.
